1966 Shelby GT350 Supercharged for sale in Hailey, Idaho

$350,000

In 1966 only six Shelby GT 350 Convertibles were built, four are in existence today.   Shelby claimed one of those six for himself back in 1966.   Routinely the new cars were sold off once they hit the tender age of six months.   Shelby was in Europe working on the Ford GT project when his car hit the six month marker and was sold with out his knowledge.   Luckily for us, Carroll felt that his time was cut short and always wanted that car back.   Finally in 1979 he decided to scratch that itch and build his 1966 GT 350 Convertible.  He teamed with J. Brunk of Beverly Hills Mustang and it was decided that they would build continuation series consisting of twelve cars.   These were not to be clones but true 1966 continuation.   12 donor V-6 cars were found, Shelby found 12 K Code engines in the factory that were not on Ford's inventory list.   To meet manufacturing laws 95% of parts had to be new old stock or parts for sale in current inventories.   The first four cars done were given to Shelby and his children.   To recoup the cost of the project four cars were sold to the open market and four were designated to Jay Brunk.
